West Cheshire Performance Centre

Welcome to the West Cheshire Perfomance Centre. The Performance Centre gained its Badminton England accreditation in December 2008, becoming the 14th PC in the country 

The Performance Centre has 3 squads – Raw Talent, Developing Talent and Emerging Talent, offering coaching to over 60 young players. In addition, Performance Centre Coaches run sessions in schools all over the Wirral, Chester and Ellesmere Port area, introducing badminton to children either in a school club environment or by supporting the badminton element of their PE Curriculum.

The Performance Centre is sponsored by FZ Forza, who provide kit at exclusively reduced prices for the players, as well as prizes for the annual Tournament. Steve Butler, an ex International himself, is hugely supportive and has already run two coach development sessions for Cheshire coaches, with further plans for opportunites for WCPC coaches to meet with coaches form other Perfornance Centres across the country. He and Tracey Hallam attended the Performance Centre launch event in October ‘09, along with 2 Malaysians who entertained PC players and their families with exhibition badminton which left everyone gasping for breath. The players also had an opportunity to hit with Steve, Tracey, Lim Ken and Anita Raj Kaur during the course of the day, as well as taking part in many other activities.

The first WCPC Tournament took place between Christmas and New Year '09 and saw approximately 280 matches played over the course of 2 days. Some players were competing in their first ever Tournament, but all had a very enjoyable time and many went away with a medal and Forza shirt.

Coaches at the Performance Centre are also working closely with George Bevan, the newly appointed Badminton England Performance Centre Advisor, to develop their coaching skills to allow them to provide the very best coaching possible for the players.
